Students will experience the culture of Brazil during this exciting week of experiential study.  The thread that will bind the week together will be a study of Capoeira.  Part martial art, part dance, Capoeira is a blend of movement, music, history, philosophy and tradition creating a signature that is uniquely Brazilian.

Students will study with master teachers in the art of Capoeira at their studio in Seattle.  Additionally, they will learn other Afro-Brazilian dances, work with trained musicians, become familiar with Brazilian customs, and they will become cultural experts as they investigate lessons focusing on geography, culture, sports, and traditional Brazilian cuisine.

Educational Objectives

  • Achieve mastery of basic skills/techniques used in Capoeira
