Welcome to Overlake Admissions
Welcome to The Overlake School. We're so glad you have decided to consider us for your child’s education. Overlake is the oldest independent coeducational college preparatory program in the Seattle area. You can look back on the school's amazing history.
From its modest roots in the small basement of a local YMCA to the beautiful 73-acre hilltop campus of today, the physical resources of the school have changed greatly. But what has remained consistent throughout its history is a commitment to the mission of the school. Our mission challenges us to provide our students the tools to be successful academically in college and to help them develop the skills they need to be productive, engaged members of the communities they join later in life. Overlake graduates are entrepreneurs, writers, programmers, doctors, lawyers, aid workers, financiers, and scholars to name a few. The common theme when you talk to one of our graduates is that they received not only the skills to be successful in life, however they might define it, but that they have the social and emotional resources to live well, to build strong relationships, and to be engaged in communities that provide meaning in their lives.
Admissions Updates
The Overlake Community is excited to welcome our registered guests to Open House this Saturday. If you are not registered for this weekend’s Open House, please note we are at capacity. We have designed an event for the number of registered guests, and cannot accommodate unregistered guests.
We still have registration spots available for the next event on November 2nd, and ask that you attend that event. Please contact us at admissions@overlake.org if the application fee is a barrier to registering for this event.
Test Policy Update
Due to the absence of in-person SSAT/ISEE test seats in the region, we are taking the following steps for the 2024-2025 application year:
For MIDDLE SCHOOL APPLICANTS:
For current 4th –7th grade applicants seeking enrollment in the 5th-8th grade class in the 2025-2026 school year, we will accept ANY standardized test from the previous school year that includes an English Language Arts (ELA) and Math section, including state-administered tests such as the SBA or MAP. We have no preference on what test score is submitted with the application.
For HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS:
For 8th grade –11th grade applicants seeking enrollment in the 9th-12th grade class in the 2025-2026 school year, we will keep our current testing policy, and will require the SSAT/ISEE for Upper School applicants. While the at-home testing options are still available, we understand the added cost to take this version of the test is an added barrier to many applicant families. The Admissions Team would like to support families for whom the registration fee is a barrier, so please reach out to us at admissions@overlake.org for more information. For general questions regarding financial aid at Overlake, reach out directly to Min Yoo at myoo@overlake.org.
