Testing

SSAT & ISEE Testing

Due to the absence of in-person SSAT/ISEE test seats in the region, we are taking the following steps for the 2024-2025 application year:

For MIDDLE SCHOOL APPLICANTS:
For current 4th –7th grade applicants seeking enrollment in the 5th-8th grade class in the 2025-2026 school year, we will accept ANY standardized test from the previous school year that includes an English Language Arts (ELA) and Math section, including state-administered tests such as the SBA or MAP. We have no preference on what test score is submitted with the application.

If test scores are not able to be sent to The Overlake School directly by the testing company or uploaded to Ravenna by the student's school, we will accept a PDF copy via email at admissions@overlake.org.

For HIGH SCHOOL APPLICANTS:
For 8th grade –11th grade applicants seeking enrollment in the 9th-12th grade class in the 2025-2026 school year, we will keep our current testing policy, and will require the SSAT/ISEE for Upper School applicants. While the at-home testing options are still available, we understand the added cost to take this version of the test is an added barrier to many applicant families. The Admissions Team would like to support families for whom the registration fee is a barrier, so please reach out to us at admissions@overlake.org for more information. For general questions regarding financial aid at Overlake, reach out directly to Min Yoo at myoo@overlake.org

When to take the test

Upper School applicants must submit SSAT scores from their current school year, i.e. no earlier than Fall 2024.

  • Paper-based test: Upper School applicants must take the SSAT paper-based test on or before January 6, 2025.
  • Computer-based or at-home test: Upper School applicants must take the SSAT computer-based or at-home test on or before February 1, 2025.
