The International Food and Culture project gives students the opportunity to explore worldwide cultures through food, film, documentaries, readings and cultural immersions. The focus will be on authenticity rather than Americanized versions of the culture as a way to broaden students’ knowledge about diverse communities. Countries have been chosen to represent different areas of the world. Every day of the project will focus on a different region - we will travel throughout greater Seattle area to eat in authentic restaurants that serve. We will take a cooking class to learn about preparation techniques.  We will further explore food and culture by engaging with documentaries about the local food culture, films that explore food culture and articles that connect the food culture to history, climate, and farming techniques.  On Friday the students will research how food and/or film has impacted the country of their choice and present to the group.
