Robotics Challenge: Introduction to Programming and Robotics

Grades
7
8

Interested in learning more about computer science and robotics?  This introductory level robotics challenge will help you explore the field of robotics by building and programming your own autonomous robot.  As you construct your robotic vehicle, you will learn the basics of robot mechanics, electronics, and programing.

  1. Knowledge: Students will learn about the fields of computer science and robotics. In addition they will learn basic program
  2. Experiential Education: Students will participate in hands-on activities with a focus on computer science and robotics.
  3. Group Process: Students will work individually and in teams throughout the week. They will also hone their time management and project management skills.
  4. Problem Solving: Students will be presented with a series of programming and robotics challenges to solve during the week.
Special Considerations

Prior Knowledge:  This project week is designed as an introduction to computer programing and robotics.  While students will be challenged with a variety of programming and robotics related tasks, students with extensive background in either computer programming or robotics may find the pace of the project week frustrating.

Sack lunches: students will need to bring sack lunches on several days.
