Telamadera Fusion is a collage-style art that brings together several mediums:  fabric (tela in Spanish), wood (madera in Spanish), and paint. Once students have decided on a direction for their project, the process involves transferring the outline of a picture on wood, choosing fabric and paint colors that will achieve their end goal, carefully wood burn and paint their designs on the wood, then use an iron to fuse the materials together.  This style allows for a great deal of personal creativity due to the variety of materials involved.  It is possible to introduce paper, as well as other materials to the mix, depending on vision.  During the week, there will be several projects to create.  Each student will complete a picture.  They will then have a choice for their second project, whether they want to complete a picture frame, box, or another picture.

Due to its eclectic nature, this style allows much room for personal vision and even personal introspection.  Students will be learning and using specific skills for working with wood, fabric, and paint.  They will be sanding and wood-burning their pieces in preparation.  They will then explore color, transparency, and texture as they paint.  Due to its eclectic nature, this style allows much room for personal vision and even personal introspection.  The fabric portion of the project requires use of an iron and quilting materials to fuse the project together.  Fine motor skill, planning, listening/following directions, risk-taking, and problem-solving are personal skills that will be used and developed in the process.
