Have you ever seen a performance so moving it gave you chills?

Have you stared at a work of art and been so drawn to it you couldn't look away?

Have you ever looked at a building's architecture and stood in awe of it's craftsmanship?

If you choose to join us on this journey, we will spend much of our time in theatrical workshops, exploring museums, architecture, and broadway performances in search of that feeling. In search of art. During our time in New York we will reflect on the relationship between arts, culture, and self. How do our own life experiences influence the way we relate to art? How do the arts reflect the values in a culture as a whole?

Our trip will center around opportunities to explore different facets of theatre through workshops with professional broadway educators and artists. We will learn to love the art in ourselves and appreciate ourselves in relation to art.

Students will be expected to document their experiences and finding those connections to self through a blog.

Special Considerations

There will be lots of walking so be sure that you're up for multiple miles a day.

We will also be participating in workshops, so come prepared to learn and engage!

Students will need money for daily lunches.

Participants must be willing to follow COVID guidelines.  Participants should only attend illness free. If a participant should test positive for COVID during the project, the student will be isolated, and the student’s family will be required to pick them up at their current location.  The family will bear all the costs associated with the student pick up.

By selecting the above project, you and your family are accepting the financial responsibility for the cost of the projects.  This includes any unrecoverable expenses incurred if Overlake, or any federal, state or local government forces cancelation of the project, or if you or your family decide not to attend, or if your student becomes symptomatic and has to be isolated.
