This project week course is designed for the person who likes to draw, create, observe, refresh. It is also designed to challenge participants to use their drawings in a slightly different way. Each student will be keeping an art journal to capture the story of their project week, much like one would use an art journal while traveling. The focus will be on using different environments to capture the essence of what is going on around us, whether we are on campus or off. We will be sketching in ink and adding color to our drawings with watercolor. Each day will be broken up into components: drawing exercises to get loosened up, prep work to get our journals ready for action, and individual drawing sessions in the outdoors or other settings to capture moments, observations, and experiences. The intention is that the journal will not just be a collection of pictures, but a culmination of illustrated mini-stories that reflect moments in the week’s journey.

On-Campus Possible

Conditions permitting this project will be on campus for one day.  In the event we are on campus, participants should be willing and able to attend in order to receive credit.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact Joey Pauley, Project Week Director, at jpauley@overlake.org
