At its most basic level, food simply provides the energy that human beings need to move through day-to-day activities; we need food to survive.  Of course, our relationship to food goes well beyond that.  Food is an experience!  In this project, we will explore and experience local food culture, including the people, cultures and processes that impact what we eat in the Greater Seattle Area.

The focal question of our project (What can a dining experience reveal about a culture?) will guide us as we explore locally sourced, Asian, and African foods in both formal and informal settings.  We will be both on and off campus as we travel the region unlocking the secrets behind the food that we eat.  But don’t be fooled by the title of this project…we will do more than just eat food.  We will harvest it (from the ground and from animals), cook it, roll it, eat it standing up, eat it sitting down with really nice napkins and explore why we love a good meal so much.  Come on with us and follow that food!
