Description

Are you learning Spanish?  Do you care about conservation efforts? Costa Rica is a beautiful and unique country that contains approximately five percent of the world’s biodiversity. It is a place where you can find an amazing variety of birds, monkeys, and many other tropical animals in a rich natural environment. It is also a land between two oceans where sea turtles nest every year. Protecting and monitoring the survival of the green and leatherback sea turtles is a work in progress developed by local and foreign volunteers. There is also a possibity of lworking with other rescue animals in the Costa Rica.

Come to Costa Rica and make a difference while practicing your Spanish!

This project is an opportunity for Upper School students to immerse themselves in an environment where they can practice speaking Spanish while participating in a sea turtle monitoring project in the North Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Volunteers will be working side-by-side with local community members to conduct patrols of the beach looking for nests or nesting sea turtles, collecting data, tagging turtles, cleaning beaches, and maintaining facilities. During their time in Costa Rica, students and leaders will live in simple cabins in small groups. Work with turtles will be during the week – Monday through Friday. There is also the possibility of working with sloths in the same area.

We will be working with the non-profit organization Voluntariado con ONGs - https://www.voluntariadoconongs.com/organizo-tu-viaje-de-voluntariado-en-costa-rica-tortugas/
