Latin 5

This is a full-year course designed to give students a basic introduction to studying a world language and to the principles of language in general. Using the Minimus text, students will learn the basic patterns of language through rudimentary Latin grammar and Greek and Latin vocabulary. All language study will focus on parallels with English grammar as well as English and Romance Language derivatives. Individual and group projects will complement the students' experience of the language and culture. Moreover, the course exposes students to the wealth of Greek and Latin culture, with an emphasis on cross-cultural interaction and on the influence of these cultures on our own.
