Road Construction Begins Mid-July
For approximately one month beginning in mid-July, the road onto Overlake’s campus will be down to one lane. That’s to accommodate the construction work to the road as required by King County.
As seen on this map, we will be repaving the road, widening it in places, replacing the speed bumps with speed humps, and adding a knee-high retaining wall along a portion of the eastern section.
To do this work, we’ll unfortunately have to remove some trees. We will be working with arborists to plant new trees and will also look at ways to reuse the fallen timber elsewhere on our campus.
For those families involved in Overlake’s Summer Program (except for the MS Hoop camp), the drop-off and pickup location has changed from previous summers. Parents will now drop off their campers at the lower gravel lot near the playing fields, immediately on your left as you enter the school’s main entrance.
For those summer campers involved in extended care hours from 3:30-5:30pm, pickup will occur in the upper parking lot as in year’s past. Families enrolled in extended care will receive a specific email that outlines this process more thoroughly.
This road work has been in the planning stages for several years and with the completion of the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) process with King County we are now able to move from planning to doing!
