Campus Center Transforms for Fashion Show
When last year’s fashion show benefit was complete, organizers Teya H. (’18) and Tyler S. (’18) celebrated with coffee. “Tyler and I went to Starbucks,” says the Overlake Senior. “We not only debriefed but let out a big sigh knowing that it was such a success. We also knew we wanted to do it again.” So this year they're back at it again.
As the Key Club’s major fundraiser, students become models and display the latest fashions. With a dozen models on this year’s roster, they’ll take to the platform in several collections including seasonal, prom formal wear, and a new theme HYPEBEAST which is a popular street fashion scene.
There are two major changes in this year’s fashion show. The first is that models will choose their own clothing, and, second, is the venue. The show will be in the Campus Center and Teya and Tyler say it’ll be a flurry of activity hours before the event as they transform the room from lunch tables to a platform runway. “There are so many moving parts with so many different people involved. It’s not only models, but also tech people, makeup artists, and emcees,” says Teya. “In the end, it’s going to be a much more intimate and interactive show.”
Proceeds from this year’s show will go to Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program and The Ruby Room. The Key Club will also accept clothing donations so make sure to go through your closets and bring any items that might help.
