Introduction to Magnus Health- Overlake's New Health Records System
The coordination and consolidation of user data is the idea behind the move to a new health records management system for Overlake students. Starting this school year families will utilize Veracross’ Magnus Health. Kim Stevens, Overlake’s Athletic Trainer is overseeing the transition, along with members of the technology team. “I am really excited about moving to Magnus, a long-time leader in student health records. Their recent partnership with Veracross means our families’ data will be kept in one platform, a platform we are already familiar with - Veracross,” explains Stevens.
“By integrating student health records with Veracross, parents and guardians will have less data they need to input, since Veracross already has a lot of that information in its data storage,” explains Director of Technology, Jay Heath. “In addition to less data redundancy, families will be able to use their existing OWL IDs and password to sign on.”
In order to ramp up to the transition, Stevens is working closely with the technology team, in particular Michael Xalxo, a data support specialist. “A portion of the student health records will be brought into Magnus from SchoolDoc and Veracross,” says Xalxo. “We anticipate families will need to verify the data that’s moved over as well as input additional items.”
Families may begin using this new system beginning in early June. “We will have parents and guardians access Magnus through the Overlake parent portal. We are setting up a button that will clearly indicate where to click and enter the Magnus Health section,” says Stevens. “Families will have until the start of the next school year – Aug. 31 – to enter the health information required to start school in the fall.”
Those students who will be involved in Upper School fall sports will be required to have their health information in Magnus prior to the start of fall sports practice on Aug. 24.
“I believe families will find this transition an easy one with some nice new features, such as built in reminders and “copy from sibling” function for families with multiple students at Overlake,” says Stevens.
There is nothing families need to do at this moment. An email will be sent to all families when Magnus is live, sometime in early June.
