Sign up now for The Overlake Show
The Overlake Show is just two weeks away, and now is the time for upper school students to sign up for the annual lip sync and skit show.
A favorite tradition for our older students, the night includes a variety of acts and ends with the audience voting for their favorite performance.
Planning for this year’s show is in full swing and Social Coordinator Kamila M. (’19) is calling on her fellow upper school students and teachers to take part. “The biggest challenge is recruiting acts,” says Kamila who has been working with Bob Bristol to put together this year’s show. “Our time is filled up with academics, volunteering, sports, and arts. I think we sometimes forget how to make time to do fun things at school! The Overlake Show is a great time for us to forget our stress and smile watching our peers and teachers on stage.”
Bristol agrees that participation is what makes The Overlake Show special. “I like when the kids team up to put on a skit,” says Bristol. “You really get that audience support when several performers are on stage at the same time. I’m putting the challenge out to our students to represent through their sports’ teams, clubs, and even homerooms.”
This year’s hosts are Seniors Sam K. and Tara M. “We have our very own theater stars as hosts so I know that they’ll be amazing and capture the attention of the audience,” says Kamila. “Not to spoil too much, but there will be some faculty making appearances on stage as well.”
It’s also important to remember that The Overlake Show is intended for our upper school students so while no one will be turned away from the door, the skits are meant for a mature audience. If students are interested in participating, they should contact Kamila or Bob as soon as possible.
The Overlake Show is on Friday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m.
