"Almost, Maine!" is almost here!

The Overlake Advanced Drama class production comes to the Fulton stage for public performances on Friday and Sunday.

Directed by Bill Johns, Almost, Maine! is a contemporary comedy that tells the stories of nine couples falling in and out of love in a small town. The stories happen simultaneously on a Friday night in December just before the Aurora Borealis appears. “Love is love and that’s the big message that the cast wanted to get out there,” says Johns. “I hope the audience comes out and enjoys visiting this little town. It’s a beautiful place where love can abound, and, unfortunately, fall apart. The place is filled with love, honesty, and community.”

Johns’ Stagecraft students created several sets to capture the various locations of the couples. Also connected by the wintery mood, it captures the desired effect of putting you in a small town during winter. Lighting plays an important role with the Aurora Borealis appearing at the end of each story. It’s used as an effective transition between each couple’s story. “As spread out as the people are in this town, a place is made up of people, but a place is also made up of things,” says Johns. “The design of the set, special effects, music, sound, and lighting connect these stories.”

Weekend performances are Friday night at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:30 and 7:30pm. Tickets are available at www.showtix4u.com , and click here for a behind the scenes look at Almost, Maine!
