Lucie Lundquist - Class of 2017
“My job is both my hobby and my lifestyle,” shares Lucie Lundquist (’17) who is the owner and founder of her interior design business, Lucie Lundquist Design. The beauty of following your passion is certainly getting to do what you love most and call it work. Perhaps that’s the secret to her success.
Specializing in residential interiors to create “sophisticated and approachable homes” Lucie “sources European antiques, and mixes pattern, texture, and color to create a lived-in and collected home that is multi-dimensional and layered,” she shares. In addition to doing small scale remodels and design work, Lucie also hosts pop-up shops twice a year featuring 10 different small businesses who sell curated, bespoke items. These popular events build community and highlight Lucie’s own work as well as fellow small businesses owned (mainly) by other women in the area.
“Home decorating and renovating are so personal and can be delicate,” she shares, adding “creating friendships with my clients is paramount and Overlake helped me build those relationships.” The relational aspect that’s so central to Lucie’s work stems from her years at Overlake. “Overlake taught us how to talk to adults. I am very young in my industry and all my clients are senior to me. While this could be intimidating, Overlake encouraged me to be confident, to carry myself in a more mature way, and to speak and communicate successfully,” she says. That relational piece not only leads to Lucie’s success with first-time clients but helps clients to trust her to come back again and again as repeat clients.
Lucie continues to grow her business and, with that, collect French and English antiques for both work and pleasure, hoping one day to travel to France to antique shop. Check out Lucie Lundquist Design for decoration inspo or for your next home reno.
