Zip Code Poetry
The Zip Code Poetry contest was inspired by an NPR story about "Zip Odes" in Miami. To write a zip code poem, students took a zip code they were connected with (home, school, relatives, etc.), wrote the numbers vertically, then wrote a poem using the same number of words in each line as the corresponding number of their zip code. Zeros allowed space for pictures, emoji, punctuation, etc. Here are the winners for 2023.
Thanks to Karen Mihata for introducing me to this concept!
