Overlake Diversity Celebration, April 29th

“What is your identity, and how does it encompass the diversity of Overlake?” Those are the questions that parent volunteers and event co-chairs Katherine Min and Labiba Khan posed to create the vision for a new Overlake community celebration honoring the school’s diverse community.
The Overlake Diversity Celebration, an inaugural event hosted by the Diversity Committee of the Parent Guardian Association (PGA) will be held Saturday, April 29th from 11:00am to 2:00pm in the Campus Center.
"We want to bring everyone together for the end of the year and foster excitement and inclusivity within our community," explains Khan.
The celebration speaks to the on-going efforts of the school’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion pillar of the strategic plan that focuses on developing cultural competency in our adult and student communities through various educational opportunities.
Attendees can participate in a variety of engaging experiences as they visit stations featuring diverse cultures and backgrounds along with a delicious assortment of complimentary global cuisine and beverages. In addition, two food trucks will also be on-site, serving up scrumptious fare. Moreover, guests will be treated to live performances by local groups, such as a lion dance and martial arts show, dabke folk dance, Korean drum and dance, a Philippine affinity group student dance, and a South Asian instrument performance. The event will culminate in a lively line dancing session, with everyone encouraged to participate!
At the Overlake Diversity Celebration participants can also engage with the free raffle for a chance at prizes including a custom-made Overlake puzzle, a Kraken hockey ticket package, and family passes to the Burke Museum, generously donated by our families.
Please RSVP here by April 21st.
