Middle School Writers Symposium 2022

The Middle School was thrilled to welcome local author Christine Day for the Middle School Writers Symposium 2022. Over the course of two days, Day did creative writing workshops with all 5th and 6th grade classes, and did a presentation for the whole school about the writing life and her journey to being an author. The students talked about the book of Day's they had read: I Can Make This Promise, and did some excellent writing in response to her prompt about finding a box in the attic. Christine was impressed with the students' abilities and imagination! At Tuesday's lunch, the author also signed books for students.

Many thanks to Nicole Balin and Robe Roberson, who welcomed Christine Day to their classes, and to Joanna Guiler, who oversees Overlake's Writers Symposium programs. Thanks to the Upper School students who wrote the land acknowledgement read by 8th graders Lucia and Sammie, and thanks to 6th grader Tori, who introduced the author at the assembly.
