Overlake is calling all Middle School students for this year's State Math Olympiad. The Overlake School will be hosting this year's competition, and now is the time for those with a passion for math to represent our school. Teacher 'becca Flora is leading the program and has included details below.

The Washington State Mathematics Council 2020 Math Olympiad Contest

Who:  Calling all fifth through eighth graders!

When: Saturday, April 25th, 2020, begins around 8:00, ends around 3:00

Why: To stretch your math muscle with a team

This is a state-wide team-based competition. Every team consists of three or four students and competes at their grade level. This is a two-part contest. A one-hour problem solving portion in which the teams solve a multi-step problem and document their solution followed by five 20-minute problem sets in five different math areas (number sense, measurement, geometric sense, probability and statistics, and algebraic reasoning). These short problems focus on the correct answer, rather than the solution process.  There is an awards ceremony at the end of the day to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of all teams.
