Summer Fun Reading Recommendations
“The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.”
― Alan Bennett, The History Boys
It's finally summer, and time to relax after our unprecedented year. And what better way to relax than to read a good book? Check out the Library's Summer Fun Reading Recommendations. The list is divided into Middle School (Grades 5-7), Crossover (Grades 7-10), and Upper School/Adult (Grades 9-12). The MS and Crossover lists are further divided into genres, and the US/Adult list is divided into Fiction, Nonfiction, Graphica, and Oldies But Goodies.
Many of these books are available as eBooks through Overdrive, using the Sora app for schools.
If you choose to purchase books instead, you can help Overlake's school in Cambodia by purchasing from Third Place Books between 5/17-21, going through Overlake's Virtual Bookfair Site and following instructions to make sure your purchase is credited to Overlake.
Happy reading!
“Reading was my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author's words reverberating in your head.”
― Paul Auster, The Brooklyn Follies
