Middle School Lunch Book Club
The Middle School Lunch Book Club meets once a quarter to talk about a student-chosen book. The book for our fall meeting was chosen in the spring, by having students nominate and vote on titles.
Fish In a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. "Ally's greatest fear is that everyone will find out she is as dumb as they think she is because she still doesn't know how to read." --Provided by publisher.
The first five students to sign up earlier this year got a free copy of the book. At the lunchtime meeting, we talked about dyslexia and bullying and other things that went on in the book, and enjoyed some white-chocolate-coconut blondies with milk chocolate chips along with our discussion!
The club was so popular this year that we had two meetings, and were lucky enough to have Mrs. Flora (6th Math) and Mrs. Hunt (MS PE) join us and offer their insights.
At lunchtime voting the next day, the steampunk/fantasy The Glass Sentence, by S.E. Grove, was chosen for the next book club meeting on December 7.
